Dr. Jeffrey Mei is a Senior Data Scientist at Wayfair in Boston. He completed his Ph. D. in Oceanographic Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on using convolutional neural networks to quantify textural features, such as roughness, in snow and sea ice surfaces. At Wayfair, he developed a sequential recommender system that adapts to changing customer tastes using transformers, and incorporated insights of customer behavior to make specific e-commerce tweaks to the model architecture. He is currently working on quantifying style, in order to facilitate style transfer across different product categories, and improving the interpretability of attention-based models.
Sergio Ilarri is Full Professor in the area of Computer
Languages and Systems Engineering at the University of Zaragoza. He is
currently the coordinator of the Computer Science Engineering degree at
the School of Engineering and Architecture at the University of
Zaragoza. He is also the coordinator of the COSMOS research group,
funded by the Government of Aragon, and leads the research project
NEAT-AMBIENCE, funded by the State Research Agency of Spain. His main
research area is data management. His research interests include mobile
computing, mobile agents, vehicular networks, context-aware recommender systems, data streams, information systems, and the Semantic Web.
